A Break From The Heat

It's only 105 today!!!
Our lows are once again the upper 70s/low 80s.  I mean, we still have to get up at around 4 am to enjoy those lows, but it sure beats the crab apples out of waking up to temps in the 90s!

We survived the first heat warning of the summer.  That was round one.  Stay tuned for rounds three, four, and possibly five...

We Miss Winter

Twas the day of 119 degrees as I stepped out of the house. I wanted to see how long it would take to get baloney stains under the arms of my blouse.

My shoes began to melt as I stood in one place.  I had beads of moisture on my upper lip and other parts of my face.

The perspiration trickling into my intergluteal cleft made the horror complete.  I sprinted back inside to escape the odious heat.

Blueberry went into the yard and I knew how she felt, as I watched her through the window, I saw her spots begin to melt.

She is wilting and so am I.  The heat is draining all of us dry.

"We are being cooked."

Dream Squasher

A Story by Blueberry:

Once upon a time...I was walking in the park with my human.  Across the green expanse I smelled something delicious.  I led my human towards the wonderful aroma. When we arrived at the destination, there, before my very eyes, was something I have only dreamed of.  An entire plate of overcooked burger patties - ON.  THE.  GROUND.

I was so stunned, so amazed that one of my dreams had actually come true that I stopped a few feet away to gaze upon the banquet.  Sadly, that gave my human enough time to also see the dish and lead me away.  For the remainder of the walk, I tried to lure her back to the plate - but she could not be fooled.  I walked by there the next day and the plate was gone.

The moral of this story is:

If you ever find a plate of hamburger patties - do not stop to gaze at them - that's a rookie move.  Instead, walk right up to that plate like you are the boss and gobble as many down as you are able before your human even knows what happened.

She's Normal!!

Blueberry had her SDMA test again and the vet reported that her results were completely normal this time!  (PTL!!) So relieved.  I did wean her off the Rimadyl during the month between tests so I have no idea if that was a factor. I have no intention of starting her on it again.

The vet did mention there is a new anti-inflammatory called Galliprant that doesn't cause the same organ damage that Rimadyl and other Nsaids can.  Anyone ever hear of it? About all I know about it, is it is pretty pricey. Blueberry seems to be doing well with just her supplements, no more kibble diet (freeze-dried and frozen raw), and daily exercise for now, but it's nice to know there is an alternative to help her with pain down the road.

The vet does plan on calling the lab to see if they recommend monitoring Blueberry more closely in the future.

"Of course I am normal.  Now, treat me."
